An annoucement posted to the mystic mermaids group:

Yan Swindlehurst: Tala fellow mefolk, I have a friend who is looking for merfolk interested in colonizing her island. She has some underwater land to rent in a nice, nature-oriented sim. The prices are reasonable, I have a parcel there myself. If interested, contact Juji Kumsung or me.

Anyone looking for place to build a grotto?

There are more and more mer-malls rezzing up in SL. Still, there’s some great items to be found hiding in unexpected places on the grid. I’ll be making a few posts every so often dedicated to these “hidden treasures”.

A while ago I was looking for some mer poses for my NiXiE tails packaging, and I joking suggested that a friend make some via a comment on flickr, which she then did!

Anyway, Cole made a bunch of poses. 14 total. Good for photoshoots or poseballs. Go check them out!

35L$ per pose, or 300L$ for the whole set. Copy & Mod.

Second Life Relay for Life is holding two mer-centric fundraising dance events for cancer research. One of them has already taken place (I was there!), but the next will be happening June 8th, so it’s not too late. Here’s the Press Release:

Dance With The Merfolk

In support of the SL Relay For Life, (SLRFL), Farhaven is hosting 2 Mer dances, one on May 25 at 12 til 2 SL & again on June 8th from 6 to 8  SL

Elf Circle is a big supporter of the SLRFL & once again has a team together for the event called Circle of Life.  Leading up to the actual SLRFL weekend of July 19th will be various events culminating with the actual relay.

I will be d’jing both Mer dances & ask that any tips are donated to the SLRFL Kiosk I will have out.  Also any song requests will be taken for a donation :)

Spot prizes will be given out too.  (any vendors who would like to donate, let me know please)

Farhaven’s Mer area has dances, cuddles & even stores for Mer.  :)   Come on & join in the fight against cancer.  Plus its a good excuse to party!

Please IM me for any questions or info

I was at the first dance, and it was a blast! I met a lot of fun new mers too, which is something we all need to do more of. Hope to see you there!

A mermaid’s dream. Five sims of open water! Used mostly for pirate battles, but mermaids are a welcome part of the events there. Worth a trip.

My Beginning May 27, 2008

My name is Azaiya Aeon. I’ve existed on and off in Second Life in different incarnations. I began in 2006 as Azaiya Basiat, then as Azaiya Boa, and now as Azaiya Aeon. Where the other two “Azaiyas” went is something we can discuss another time, but the reason each of them existed is the same: I was drawn into SL because Second Life could allow me to become a mermaid. Through my travels in-world I have explored other existences, but I’m always brought back to my sea and flukes at the end of the day.

Mermaids are creatures that, to me are the most beautiful, intelligent, strong, and sexual of all the fae. I wrote this in a discussion on flickr:

To me, merfolk represent a soul opened, released to it’s true power. The solid, unconquerable tames us humans, but merfolk live in a place in constant flux. There is so much energy in the sea, so much hidden.

Merfolk are like a humanity awakened to their true strength and beauty by their environment. Their aquatic parts make them one with the ocean, but their human parts give them the intelligence and sentience of humankind. The hybrid of these two forces make them far wiser and far freer.

I’ll use this blog to chronicle my travels in the seas of SL, but also to share other items of interest that I find, including books, stories, links, and other mer-media that I may come across. I may even weave some of my own tales for you, so please stay-tuned.

A song rings out to the call of all sea-kin. Here’s to the start of a grand journey!
